In an exclusive interview, Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson, best known for her role as Katie Harris, has spilled the tea on her complicated relationship with her ex-husband, Alan Halsall, and how they’re navigating life post-divorce. The former couple’s relationship has been a topic of interest for fans ever since they first met on the Coronation Street set in 2005. At the time, they were playing characters Katie Harris and Tyrone Dobbs, and their on-screen chemistry soon translated into a real-life romance. After dating for a few years, they tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their daughter, Sienna, in 2013. However, after nearly a decade of marriage, they announced their separation in 2018.
In a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, Lucy-Jo opened up about how she and Alan have managed their co-parenting relationship since their divorce, especially in light of his recent stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. Lucy-Jo revealed that, despite their separation, they maintain a strong and supportive partnership for the sake of their daughter. She explained that while Alan was away in Australia for the reality show, she and her new partner, Lewis Divine, discussed how best to support their daughter Sienna. “It was important to be there for Sienna,” Lucy-Jo shared. “We watched the show together so she could enjoy it with someone close, and we were there for her through the highs and lows of the experience.”
Lucy-Jo also addressed rumors that had been circulating, suggesting that she would be voting for her ex-husband to be sent into the notorious Bush Tucker Trials. The rumors quickly caught the attention of fans, sparking speculation about any lingering tension between the former spouses. However, Lucy-Jo quickly shut down these claims, taking to Instagram to clarify the situation. “First of all, Alan and I have been divorced for seven years,” she wrote. “I can’t believe this is still a topic of conversation—it’s honestly boring at this point.”
She went on to emphasize that she and Alan are dedicated co-parents, sharing custody of their daughter 50/50 and communicating regularly to ensure that Sienna has the best possible upbringing. Lucy-Jo also reassured fans that they would be watching I’m A Celebrity together to support Alan, showing how the family remains united despite the changes. “We wish him nothing but the best,” she added. “Sienna will miss her dad, but we’re going to be there for her, supporting her through this strange experience.”
Through it all, Lucy-Jo’s openness about her relationship with Alan shows a deep level of maturity and understanding of the importance of co-parenting and maintaining a supportive environment for their daughter. Despite their personal differences, the couple has remained committed to putting Sienna’s needs first and ensuring she feels loved and supported by both parents.
As for the future, it seems that Lucy-Jo and Alan have found a way to move forward with respect and mutual understanding, focusing on what’s best for their daughter and supporting each other through life’s challenges. Their story proves that, even after a high-profile breakup, it’s possible to maintain a positive and cooperative relationship for the sake of family.
